Wubi is a programme that allows completely free installation of the Ubuntu operating system from the well known Windows interface.
Linux has always been an excellent option (both in desktops as in servers) to other operating systems, but it has always been characterised as being a complicated system, users needed extensive computer knowledge for installing it, configuring it and using it. Though this has changed a lot in the last years, a lot of users still have not been able to install it satisfactorily. Wubi is a programme thought out to change that situation definitely.
Wubi installs the Ubuntu operating system without problems, with no need to create primary partitions, interchange partitions or to change any aspect of the partition table. It works as if it was just another application.
Wubi downloads the necessary files through an Internet connection and installs them automatically, it practically does not need any user intervention.
Wubi allows you to choose between several distributions: Kubuntu (uses the KDE desktop), Ubuntu (uses the GNOME desktop), Xubuntu (uses the XFCE desktop), UbuntuStudio (optimised for multimedia functions) and Edubuntu (optimised to satisfy educational needs) all very easily, the same way a standard application is installed.
