TestDisk is a useful tool for PC repair technicians or for users who have the courage to handle partitions for file systems.
When we are about to install an operating system, we must prepare previously a certain portion of the hard drive or the whole disk, with a partition that allows it to work correctly.
Without these partitions, no operating system can be executed and if there is a confirmation error in the partition structure, then we will be unable to access the data stored there.
With TestDisk we will be able to recover damaged partitions for accessing again the operating system or just a portion of the disk that holds only data.
TestDisk works on FAT (12,16,32), NTFS, Linux, Linux Swap, UFS, JFS, XFS and BeFS partitions.
